When my daughter, Alejandra, was 8 years old she came up to me with a Peruvian cookbook and said that she wanted to make alfajores for the first time. Using an old recipe, I taught her how to make alfajores.

The next day, we hosted a fundraiser at home to help a Peruvian friend. Alejandra had the smart idea to put the leftover alfajores in small bags and sell them to raise some extra money.

Ten minutes later: SOLD OUT!

Everyone enjoyed the alfajores and asked if I was selling them. Intrigued by the idea of a new business, I began to test different recipes, working with the ingredients I could find here in Chicago. After dozens of trial batches, I found the perfect recipe: crispy and the right amount of sweet.



From that day on, my business has grown past alfajores, and I now specialize in other Peruvian desserts and cakes as well.

 

Of course, none of this would be possible without our customers and their loyalty. They gave us tons of feedback and opinions, but most inportantly, they had the difficult task of tasting all our products!​
